It’s almost serendipitous that I received my cancer diagnosis while out on a bike ride in the Cuyahoga valley. My phone rang and it was our insurance agent saying ild failed a physical and should get in touch with my family doctor ASAP. A prostrate cancer diagnosis was confirmed and oddly one of my first concerns was whether I would be able to ride bikes any longer. I had just recently been back in my bike after a long time participating in other sports and was reliving happy teen and college years riding. The first urologist I spoke with said the biking days were over, so I got another opinion at CC. Radiation oncology said it would be tough but “ give it a try” after treatment. 11 years later cancer free and riding on mountains in Europe and haven’t missed a Velosano 100 miler yet.
